LETTING THE BIBLE SPEAK

The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. (Isaiah 40:6–8)

We live in an age that increasingly is looking for spiritual experiences, however many are progressively taking us away from Biblical truth. Yet God has assured us before the end, the voice of His Word will be heard among the nations calling all to decision.

Letting The Bible Speak is a compilation of Bible lessons I prepared to teach from, and is being shared here along with the companion audio lessons in the belief that “the word of God … lives and abides forever.” (1 Peter 1:23)

LESSONS OF SALVATION IN ROMANS

In the opening statement in the letter to the Romans, Paul says of himself he is a servant of Christ. Here is an insight into his vibrant faith and holy life. You and I as well are called to be servants of Christ, however it cannot be motivated by hope of reward or out fear of punishment. In the life of a Christian as it was with Paul, to be a servant describes the individual “who gives himself up to another’s will, those whose service is used by Christ in extending and advancing His cause among men, devoted to another to the disregard of one’s own interests.”

If we are to gain eternal life at last and be victorious in the Christian experience now, we need to recognize in Christ we “are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.” Romans 6:22, New Living Testament

Peter’s letters presented valuable truths for the church of the first century. His teaching and counsel still speak to all who have faith to believe that the Word of God “is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword … and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

THE PATH OF THE JUST

“The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” Proverbs 4:18. The letters of Paul to the early church are really God’s counsel to us. In these letters is revealed the manner of reconciliation with God, and the life that is lived in the individual brought back into harmony with Him.

For Christians living in the twenty-first century, the path to heaven and eternal life, and the way in which we may know God and His purpose for us, is still found in the Bible. The Word of God, inclusive of the letters of Paul, still provides the authoritative path that the just of today will follow.
